The songs of award winning folk/gospel artist Corey Doak have a profound insight and keen sense of artistry that has spoken deeply to many hearts in a span of 10 years and 5 albums. A unique blend of story, psalmistry, offbeat humor, wisdom and poetry make him a standout in a world of cookie cutter artists.
"I believe that our songs are meant to be a reflection of our human experience-sometimes we're singing songs of praise to the Triune God and sometimes we're singing the blues. Sometimes we're laughing like madmen over the most ridiculous thing, and the next moment we're pondering the meaning of beauty in the world.
"It was when I quit worrying about fitting a mold and just did my thing that really meaningful things started to happen. That's why I've ended up doing comedy one moment, a story song the next, and a worship song the moment after that. It's cohesive because it's real."
His CD “No Sudden Movements” is the winner of the 2009 Covenant Award for the Folk/Roots Album of the Year and the 2009 BC Interior Music Award for Christian/Gospel Recording of the Year.
Corey has traveled extensively across Canada & the United States, Mexico, Lithuania and Latvia. He has shared the stage with many notable performers including Greg Sczebel, POD, Fresh I.E., Downhere, Steve Bell, Starfield and Shaun Groves.
He grew up on the beaches of Bandon, Oregon, but has been adopted by the great nation of Canada. He lives in Kelowna, British Columbia with his wife Angela.
